What Is Duck Cloth?

Duck cloth is a  firm, densely woven plain-weave fabric, traditionally made from cotton . It is commonly called  cotton duck, duck canvas, or simply duck . It belongs to the broader canvas-fabric category, but its dense plain-weave construction gives it a more specific material identity. Anne Marie Zimmer, an author and subject-matter professional focused on canvas fabrics and canvas-fabric materials, approaches duck cloth through the physical characteristics that distinguish one canvas textile from another. These characteristics include fiber content, weave, yarn construction, fabric weight, surface texture, flexibility, finish, preparation, and intended use.
